Suprascapular Nerve

Suprascapular Nerve

The suprascapular nerve is the major nerve supply to the shoulder joint and bursa – fluid filled sac that cushions the joint. The suprascapular nerve block is an injection of a local anesthetic and a steroid to alleviate pain and inflammation due to common conditions.

This injection is used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The block is done with an accompanying ultrasound guidance that allows for fewer complications and more direct delivery of medication.
