Bursa

Bursa are located near the joints of the body and are small fluid-filled sacs that cushion the movement of the joint and prevent friction. Problems with the bursa result in pain and inflammation. This inflammation is called bursitis. Bursitis often affects the major joints of the body, such as the shoulders, hips, knees, and elbow.

Bursa injections are used to alleviate pain associated with the bursa sac in shoulder, elbow, hip, knee joints, and other parts of the body. Swollen bursa cause inflammation and pain, which is commonly treated with a steroid injected into the bursa sac.
